Power & Proud
Organist of St. Canice`s Cathedral in Kilkenny, Malcolm Proud has performed on many historic organs around the world. He is also harpsichordist and co-founder of the Irish Baroque Orchestra, Camerata Kilkenny.
An extraordinary collaboration emerged from the Kilkenny Arts Festival finale concert in 2016 - a duet of Uilleann pipes and organ that included the courageous playing of the Aria from Bach`s Goldberg Variations. This performance urged both musicians to work on more pieces that suited their instruments. This offered both musicians a chance to explore uncharted musical territory, opening up whole new vistas of sound. This new eclectic programme, encompasses everything from Kevin Volans` arrangement of a Zulu children song to traditional reels and pieces by Mozart and Bach. |
